Beginner's Guide to Playing Piggy: The Ultimate Roblox Horror Game

PIGGY in Roblox is a horror game sensation. Learn how to get started in this thrilling game here.

Piggy is one of the few Roblox horror games that gets the horror part right. Piggy is equally terrifying and fun, making it a firm favorite among Roblox players here at now.gg.

While PIGGY may be popular, it is hardly the easiest game to get started with. Like many Roblox games, Piggy has a huge amount of depth. So, whether you’re playing Piggy via the mobile cloud, you’re going to want a good guide to walk you through how the game works. That’s what we’re about.

What is Piggy?

Piggy is a Roblox-based horror game. Your goal in Piggy is simple – collect a key and escape the map. Oh, and you’ve got a pig chasing you the whole way, and if the pig catches you, well, you’re dead.

Your First In-Game Adventure

Unfortunately, Piggy seems to have removed the single-player feature that they had when the game launched. This means that you’ve got little choice but to get started in online play. If at any point you’re asked to vote for how Piggy should be played, select ‘Bot’. Piggy will then be game-controlled, making everything easier for you.

When you play for the first time, don’t worry too much about winning. You won’t. This game is hard. Just get a feel for the controls, especially crouch, your special ability (found on the left-hand side of the screen), and movement. We’ve written a guide to finding out the controls of a Roblox game on now.gg if you’re struggling.

We’ll tell you how a game plays shortly.

Unlocking Pages

Each level of Piggy will have pages you can unlock. This will tell you more about the story of the game. You can view the currently unlocked pages by clicking the ‘Pages’ button on the main menu.

Levels Are Randomized (To an Extent)

In Piggy, the layout of the level will never change. The locks will always be in the same place. You’ll always spawn in the same place. The map for each level will always be fixed. This’ll make it easier to keep away from Piggy when you’re locked in a chase since, once you learn the levels, you’ll know the best routes to run to.

However, life won’t be 100% easy for you. There is randomization in the game, and this comes in the form of items. Just because you found a key or hammer in one location before doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be there the next time you play the same map. You’ll need to keep on your toes when escaping from Piggy!

How to Play Piggy Properly

Let’s walk you through how a typical game will play out. Don’t worry too much about playing as Piggy right now. This is just a beginner’s guide to playing as one of the characters being chased.

Spawning

Each level has a fixed spawn point. As soon as you spawn, try and look for your other teammates. You don’t have to find them, but it’ll make life a lot easier for you if you are all running around together. It means that Piggy may get confused about who to chase.

Doors

As you run through the level, try to open as many doors as possible. You’ll eventually need to check through each room to ensure you’ve found all the items you need.

It’s easier to open the doors at the start of the game since you won’t have Piggy chasing you right away (unless you’re very unlucky).

Finding Keys/Tools

You’re mostly looking for keys in this game. However, hammers are also required for breaking through certain doors.

As you run into each room, quickly look for keys. They are brightly colored, so they shouldn’t be too difficult to miss.

Once you’ve checked a room, make a mental note that you’ve checked it. If it is empty, you don’t need to return there.

Progressing

The ultimate goal is to escape the level. What you need to do on each level is pretty much the same – collect keys or items and then unlock doors. Simple. The exact items you need to collect vary from level to level. Generally speaking, the keys allow you to unlock more doors, and the other items (e.g. hammer, bullets, wrenches, etc.) allow you to complete the level.

When Piggy Chases You

Eventually, Piggy will chase you. He can be pretty tough to escape from too. He’ll probably catch you the first time. As soon as he touches you, you’re out of the game. The following tips should help, though:

  • Close doors behind you (when being chased). Piggy needs to open them, slowing him down.
  • Look for gaps in the walls or floor that you can crouch and climb through. Piggy can’t follow you there.
  • Run around objects. He may get tired and chase somebody else.

When you’re playing the game, you should always be keeping an eye out for Piggy. As soon as you see him – run! It becomes a bit easier on some maps since there’s more open space to escape.

Getting Better at Piggy

Once you’re past the first couple of levels, Piggy can get insanely difficult to play. Things become even harder when you switch up the Piggy style (especially if you’re getting a player-controlled Piggy in the mix). You’ll fail…a lot. So, let’s share a few tips to make your life in this game a whole lot easier.

Spectate

Piggy has a spectate mode. The spectate mode will let you watch other players play the game. Look at what they do right/wrong. See how they move through the game. Look at how they attempt to avoid Piggy, etc.

Spectating will give you a wealth of information. Many of the players you watch won’t be good, but at least you can learn from their mistakes.

Play Ghost Mode

When you die in Piggy, you have the option to trigger ‘Ghost’ mode. This will allow you to run around the game world completely unhindered. This will let you see how the other players are running around and, more importantly, the moves Piggy uses to track down other players. All this information can be used to help you more with the game.

Advanced: Unlocking Items & Abilities

We won’t spoil it too much here since there’s a lot in Piggy to discover, but we want to wrap up by pointing out that there are tons of abilities and items to unlock in Piggy. Find the Blueprints in each level (some are very well-hidden). Once you’ve found them, purchase the item from the splash screen for the game.

Still Need More Horror?

Piggy should keep you entertained for hours and hours, but we know that some of our readers love horror games. This is why we’ve put together a list of the best horror games at now.gg. Check it out so you have something brand new to dive into once you’ve exhausted the hauntingly terrifying world of Piggy.

Play More

You won’t be good at Piggy during your first game. You probably won’t even be good at Piggy during your 10th, or even 20th, round. It may have a simple concept, but it is incredibly tough to master.

So, just play Piggy more. Play as much as you can. As you play, you’ll learn how other players enjoy the game. You’ll learn where items are most likely to spawn. You’ll learn escape routes. You’ll unlock new powers and skins. That’s when the real fun starts. When you’re experienced, your challenge isn’t to escape the level but to escape the level as quickly as possible without Piggy noticing.
